Justine Wellman Surface Stories: Monoprint, Stencil & Layers in Clay This one-day comprehensive course is an opportunity to learn a surface decoration approach that has evolved through experimentation and refinement. Learn mono-printing, stencil-making, and layering techniques that explore illustrative decoration on clay . Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you'll gain insight into how to create depth, texture, and intricate surfaces using a combination of monoprints, stencils, and other materials. This workshop is designed for ceramic artists looking to expand their surface design vocabulary and incorporate new approaches into their work. Artist bio - Justine Wellman I create ceramics on Yuin Country in Milton, NSW, drawing from the ever-changing energy of the coastal bushland and the environment around me. My work explores surface decoration through monoprint, stencils, and layered textures, capturing the traces of landscape and memory. Balancing control and spontaneity, I let the process guide the final outcome. What's included: * artist talk and demonstrations * morning tea * all materials, tools and equipment needed to participate * 4 tiles (approximately 10 cm square) and 2 shallow dishes (pre made leather hard) per person * bisque firing of 4 tiles and 2 shallow dishes per person Please note glaze firing and postage of bisque pieces is not included in this workshop What to bring: * notepad & pen/pencil * lunch * water bottle * reference images to use for inspiration or tracing Optional *your own mark making tools, brushes
