Service Description

Cameron Williams Big Pot techniques In Cameron's first intensive masterclass at Soul Clay Studios on the South Coast, you can expect to spend 2 days immersed in making large-scale pottery, learning to improve your throwing technique Cameron will demonstrate working with one piece of clay, assembling sections and coiling to create larger vessels. This class is best suited to intermediate to advanced wheelthrowers who are keen to take their wheelthrowing to to the next level. Participants should be able to confidently centre 1- 2 kilos of clay or more. This masterclass is a practical, ‘hands on’, participatory session and will include demonstrations and artist talk by Cameron. Session dates Saturday 24 May and Sunday 25th May Session times: 9.30am - 4.30pm Participants will be using the studio recycled clay to allow for plenty of opportunity to practice. Bags of midfire clay will also be available for purchase. Included: • 2 days of demonstrations, input, tuition and assistance from Cameron • Morning tea each day • Tea/coffee • Use of studio tools/equipment • Bisque firing of one large vessel per person What to bring: • Apron • Favourite throwing and turning tools (we have plenty of tools to use in the studio if you don’t bring any with you) • Towel • Notebook and pen/pencil • Water bottle • Lunch Artist bio Cameron Williams is an Australian ceramic artist known for his mastery of large-scale, wheel-thrown pottery. With over 30 years of experience, he creates striking planters, water features, and sculptural works, often designed for public spaces, architectural projects, and private gardens. His pieces are celebrated for their bold forms and harmonious integration with minimalist and natural settings. Based on the South Coast of New South Wales, Cameron has worked with notable clients such as Cate Blanchett, Parliament House in Canberra, and landscape designer Will Dangar. He is also a dedicated teacher, offering workshops and demonstrations that focus on the unique challenges of creating large-scale pottery.
